Konda Surekha likely to be offered deputy speaker post

Endowments Minister Konda Surekha

Hyderabad: Is the Congress high command exploring a middle path to resolve the controversy surrounding Endowments Minister Konda Surekha? According to unconfirmed sources, the party high command will reportedly offer the post of deputy speaker to Surekha and ask her to resign from the Cabinet.

However, it is learnt that she is yet to take a call on the proposal. Meanwhile, AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal is scheduled to hold deliberations on Wednesday with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud first and later with AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, on the TPCC disciplinary action committee’s report pertaining to Surekha and senior leader Dr G Chinna Reddy.

Subsequently, all three, along with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, are expected to hold further discussions on the issue with AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge. It is not yet confirmed whether Kharge will hold the deliberations jointly or separately with each of them.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the AICC leadership is likely to take a final decision on the Konda Surekha issue after these deliberations, it is learnt.
