BJP calls Congress rule ‘1,000 days of betrayal’

Telangana BJP president N Ramachander Rao

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Telangana BJP president N Ramachander Rao’s residence on Tuesday morning as police placed him under house arrest. He was scheduled to travel to Nalgonda to meet District BJP president Varshit Reddy, whose residence was allegedly vandalised by Youth Congress workers on Monday.

Rao was later shifted to Gandhinagar Police Station, where he addressed the media and attacked the A Revanth Reddy-led Congress government, describing its “1,000 days of public governance” as “1,000 days of public betrayal”.

Rao alleged that farmers, unemployed youth, women, employees and pensioners had been let down. He claimed nearly Rs 40,000 crore was required for a complete farm loan waiver, while only Rs 18,000 crore had been disbursed. He also alleged that Rythu Bharosa assistance was reduced from the promised Rs 15,000 to Rs 12,000 per acre and questioned the implementation of the Rs 500 paddy bonus.

He claimed only 16,000 jobs had been provided against the promise of lakhs within 100 days and criticised delays in salaries, pensions and PRC implementation.

Rao also targeted HYDRAA, HILT and CURE, besides raising 22A land disputes, fee reimbursement and law-and-order concerns. He vowed that the BJP would continue its democratic fight despite arrests and “illegal cases”.
