Doctors take to cricket pitch to spread anti-drug message

Nizamabad: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Nizamabad, in association with Dr. A. Vishal’s Alcohol & Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, inaugurated the Doctors’ Cricket League at Rockets Cricket Ground, Keshapur, on Monday.

The league is being organised with the theme “Say No to Drugs—Say Yes to Life and Sports.” Chief Guest P. Sai Chaitanya, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Nizamabad, urged young people to stay away from addictive substances and embrace sports, exercise and healthy lifestyles. He said participation in sports could help youth develop discipline and maintain physical and mental well-being.

IMA Nizamabad President Dr. Vishal Akula said addiction is a treatable health condition and stressed the importance of medicines, counselling, psychological interventions, de-addiction treatment and rehabilitation.

He encouraged affected individuals and their families to seek professional help without hesitation.

The league will be held from September 1 to 8.

IMA Telangana State Branch President Dr. P. Kishan will present prizes to the winners on September 8. Several doctors and medical, dental, physiotherapy and nursing students participated in the programme.
