Potholes turn Warangal ROB into accident hotspot
Warangal: The Y-shaped railway overbridge (ROB) near Warangal Railway Gate has turned into an accident hotspot with deep potholes and exposed iron rods posing a serious threat to commuters. ROB Protection Committee convenor and former 40th division corporator Marupalli Ravi led a protest on Tuesday, demanding immediate repairs and construction of stairways on both sides of the railway track.
As part of the protest, activists sprinkled flowers at dangerous spots on the bridge to highlight the risks faced by motorists and pedestrians. Ravi alleged that the bridge was damaged by recent rains and criticised officials for failing to respond to repeated complaints.
He said memorandums submitted to Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and District Collector Dr Satya Sharada six months ago had yielded no action. Ravi urged authorities to undertake permanent repairs and construct pedestrian stairways. He warned of a large-scale agitation if officials continued to ignore the demands.
