Khammam: Telangana State Warehousing Corporation Chairman Rayala Nageswara Rao described the completion of 1,000 days of the Congress-led people’s government as a “historic milestone” in the state’s journey, and congratulated Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers and legislators.

He was speaking to The Hans India on Wednesday , Rao said the government had focused on welfare, development and addressing social issues during its 1,000-day tenure, particularly benefiting farmers, women, students, employees and the economically weaker sections.

He highlighted initiatives including farm loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, uninterrupted power supply to agriculture, Rythu Bima and a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for paddy. The government was also ensuring procurement of farmers’ produce, he said.

Rao said several measures had been taken to strengthen the education sector, including plans to establish Young India International Schools in 105 Assembly constituencies with the objective of providing quality education comparable to private institutions. He also welcomed the enhancement of diet charges and other facilities for students staying in government hostels.

He said it was a matter of satisfaction for him to be part of the welfare-oriented administration as chairman of the State Warehousing Corporation and to get an opportunity to serve the people.

With the support of Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, the capacity of the State Warehousing Corporation was being expanded from five lakh tonnes to 15 lakh tonnes, he said, adding that efforts were underway to achieve the enhanced capacity at the earliest.

Rao also cited free bus travel for women, provision of Indiramma sarees and interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups among the government’s major initiatives. He said the government had taken steps towards filling around 72,000 government jobs and providing housing to nearly six lakh poor families.

The government had also issued around 15 lakh new ration cards and was providing fine-quality rice to poor families, he said.

Rao said the government was implementing key electoral commitments, including LPG cylinders at Rs 500 and free electricity for consumption up to 200 units.

He termed the completion of the Scheduled Caste sub-categorisation process a major achievement and said the comprehensive caste survey had sought to provide data on the population and socio-economic status of different communities.

The restoration of democratic spirit in Telangana after ending what he described as the previous “autocratic rule” was among the major achievements of the Congress government, Rao said.

He appealed to people to support the government and reject allegations being levelled by opposition parties, asserting that the administration would continue to focus on development, welfare and resolving social issues.
